A shocking news (part 3)

Story till now: After the college event Aman decides to propose her, but when he meets her in college next day Aman gets to know that Priyansh has proposed her on the evening of event. He gets upset asks her to deny him, but when she argue against it he ends up telling her that he loves her. Read part 2 here.

This day was indeed going to be memorable for both Aman and her. But will it be a happy memory? Let’s find out what happens next.

At Library: Discussion is still on

Aman!! Are you serious? She was taken aback.

There was no escaping from this. And Aman couldn’t wait for valentine’s day anymore. He had to confess then and there. ‘Yes. Very serious.’ Came the reply.

“Since when? Why you didn’t tell me before?”

“Didn’t want to lose you.”

Aman’s phone rang, he rejected the call. There was a silence between them. Both were searching for words. His phone buzzed again. He was about to reject but,

“You can receive the call Aman.” She insisted.

“Hello!”

“Aman, come to City hospital now.” Came Abhi’s voice from other end of the phone.

“What? What happened? Why are you in hospital?” Aman got worried. Abhi was one of his best friends.

“Vijay bhaiya tried to kill himself.” Abhi informed him.

“What?? How is he now?” Aman enquired.

“Alive” Abhi replied through the phone.

“Okay. I am coming. In 10 mins.” Aman disconnected the call.

“I need to go. Vijay bhaiya tried to kill himself. He is in hospital” Aman informed her.

“What? Why?” this was shocked. Second time in last five mins. Second one not being very pleasant one. She knew Vijay. Vijay is Abhi’s roommate. Though he is senior to them he is good friend of Aman’s and many times he had helped them both with assignments.

“I don’t know. I will tell all. I have to go now” Aman left hurried.

At the hospital: 

Aman enquired for Vijay’s room number at the reception.

“Vijay Sinha, admitted today morning, room no 307” came the answer in a trained voice.

Aman took the steps. He landed on 3^rd floor corridor and looked on his left to find Abhi sitting on the bench outside a room. It was 307.

He walked up to Vijay and tapped on his shoulder, Abhi was sitting on the bench with his face perpendicular to the floor and eyes closed. Abhi looked up to see who it was.

“Aman!” he sighed.

“How is he now?” asked Aman.

“Still unconscious. Doctors say his condition is critical.” Both walked into the room.

Vijay was lying unconscious on bed multiples wires from various machines entering his skin on different parts of the body.

“How and why?” Aman asked straight.

“He took a bunch of drug pills. What drug I don’t know, doctor said some medical terms but I’m not aware of it.” Abhi’s voice was heavy. He continued “Night when I went to bed, he was still awake lost in his books. As you he was tensed from last few days but didn’t expect him to take such step.”

“He never took drugs before; from where he got those. And you knew that he on drugs?” Aman enquired worried and curious at same time.

“No. he never told anyone about this drug thing. I don’t think he used it before.” Answered Abhi.

“Hmm!”

“Today morning when I woke up and saw him lying flat with hands stretched outwards which is not usual for him, then saw open bottle of medicine on floor, some of the pills had fallen out. I picked it up and checked. I thought he took sleeping pills, that time I didn’t know it’s some kind of drug it gave me chill. Tried to wake him up but he would not. I got worried and called out for Michael from neighboring room, he also suspected the same.” Abhi stopped to take a breath. Imagine the whole scene again was making him uneasy.

He continued “We then called the warden and got him here in hostel’s Ambulance. Doctor’s said he is still alive but critical. They are trying there best.” 

“Its been few hours since he took the pills, ah! The drugs.” Abhi almost shouted at the end of his sentence.

Aman pacified him. And asked about Vijay’s parents “What about his parents? You Informed them?” asked Aman.

“Yes, the warden has informed. They will reach hereby evening. It’s a long journey from his village home.” he tried to calm himself and continued “Had to call police as well. One inspector came about 30 mins ago. He asked me few questions and said to call him again once his parent’s reach here.”

“I think they are going to question me again. Don’t know what they will do now. I am his roommate and on top I was sleeping beside him the whole night! can you imagine?” Abhi was anxious.

“Nothing will happen to you man, don’t worry we all are there, and once Vijay regains consciousness, he will tell everything to police to everyone.” Aman tried to pacify him. “Why didn’t you call me earlier?” he asked further.

“So many things were happening didn’t know whom to call whom to not. While coming to hospital I called one of Vijay’s friend then he informed other. And here all this hospital process, then the police thing. Ah! I can’t explain what I’m feeling now.” Abhi concluded.

“It’s okay. Calm down, everything is going to fine.” Aman tried to assure him. “you sit here, I will bring some coffee for you. You want to eat something?” he added further.

“No. just coffee would be fine.” Said Abhi.

“Okay. Will be back in a minute.” Aman walked out of the hospital room.

As he stepped out of the room, he saw Priyansh at farther end of the corridor. Priyansh also noticed Aman and walked up to him.
