Those Five Minutes (part 1)

portrait of a girl

“Spread love and happiness as much you can. Make the other person smile and it will come back to you.”

Thought what could be a better way to start than Love. So here I am with first blog/story (excluding the introductory ‘This is me‘ 😊). A short story. Hope you will enjoy it. Let me know if you liked it. Would you like to read more on love?

The Event:

After around one month of tiring work of arranging sponsors, taking necessary permissions from the concerned authorities, booking sounds and lights system, finalizing the theme and designs for stage and all entrances, and what not? Today finally the day had come. Everyone was excited, full of energies, everyone was busy with some or other thing. The chief guest had arrived, the principle and dean would reach anytime. The sun was ready to say goodbye, but the registration was still busy, full of chaos.

After the tiring work of whole day, which yet haven’t ended, disappointed with something or some people may be, Aman chose the lonely corner of that open area to sit and give himself a little time to absorb the things. She saw him sitting there alone, parted from everyone present, and went near him. She could easily read his tired and rugged face. She asked the reason, but he did not tell, feeling it would not be right to share his differences with organizing committee members with her at this moment. She had a real concern for they shared a beautiful friendly relation since their 1st year in the collage, she asked if she could sit with him. He offered to her his chair and took another for himself.

SHE: 💃🏻

She was looking indescribably beautiful. The light pink saree that she wore was just perfect making her look as pretty and gracious as a pink rose. The sweet aroma that she was carrying complemented her divine beauty. With her so expressive eyes behind the thin bordered spectacle and gifted smile that she always wore, she attracted every single pair of eyes present there. She had a part of her thick and silky black hairs with a small star shaped hair clip almost hidden in her hairs and left a part untied allowing them to fall almost till her waist. Just a sight of her could take away anyone’s grief and he wasn’t different. Moreover, she was Aman’s good, no very good friend. She was special. He instantly felt better. He wanted to praise her beauty but couldn’t. He sat quite just looking at her. Aman wished if he could only the moment from passing. He didn’t care of what is happening in the event which guest had to attended, which announcement to be made, who is performing next, where is the light-person! Nothing. He just wanted time to stop at this moment and sit there looking at her till eternity. Ah! He loved her so much, since the very first day he had seen her he liked her and eventually falling in love. But never expressed. Sometimes Aman wondered if she knows it all. But he had taken all cares so as to not let her have even a slightest hint of the way he felt for her.

Then both sat silently, she was looking at him but did not say anything. She understood him so well. They shared a peaceful five or may be seven minutes, with she being the one breaking the silence a few times. Only sitting with each other was making them happy and comfortable, there was no need of many words. After few minutes She again asked what had happened, why he was disturbed. But he just said “There are issues always. Things happen. Let it be nothing important”.  She tried to pacify him with her words. He wished the time not to pass. But then another problem had occurred, a junior from 2nd year called him to inform; he had to go to deal with. He whispered asking God “why now?”. To her, he said, “I will be back in a minute” and took her depart. Her phone rang too, it was her mother. She received the phone and went to other side to talk. Thus, the most beautiful five minutes of his life ended.

The Decision?

As he got busy with his responsibilities for that evening, and could not be back, it became their last interaction for the day. He wanted to ask her out after the program. But she was nowhere to be seen. He realized that he missed a beautiful opportunity to ask her out and spend some valuable time with her. But then a smile ran on his face as a thought stroke his mind. In that moment he decided that he will tell her about his feeling. One week from that day is Valentine’s day; He will finally propose her. He went home with a smiling heart.
