Reviving the Artist (#1)

Once an artist, always an artist ??
Not sure of that.

I, now a days seldom manage time for drawing or painting. Today is ‘Mahalaya Amavasya‘ or simply ‘Mahalaya‘ the day that marks the end of pitru paksha, and beginning of Navratri, celebrated in India. Mahalaya is widely celebrated in the state of West Bengal, India. It holds great importance in Hindu culture, and marks the start of Navratri/Durga Puja festival.

I will explain this in detail in some other post maybe, but today I want to present of you the sketch I made today morning on this auspicious occasion. Hope you would like it ๐Ÿ™‚

Mahalaya Art:
Mahalaya art 2020

About the drawing:
1. Face of Goddess Durga.
2. Dhak (a musical instrument, huge membranophone, this could be as big as barrels )
3. Kash Ful (kash flower or Saccharum spontaneum, a grass native to the Indian Subcontinent)

Both the Dhak and Kash ful are important symbols of Durga-Puja festival.

PS: Above drawing is made using HB and 6B pencils. Applied black&white filter to clear the noise in background. Got original image (for the face) from google.
